Housekeeping Time!

As I become more serious in my writing craft, there are things that I had been neglecting. Like this site. Well no more. I’m going to be posting more often and keeping things up to date, bear with me while I go through these growing pains. We’ve all been there.
At times I felt as though I was going at this alone, but have found a great group of local writers to ask questions and get the much needed kick in the pants to “just pick one”. More about that in a later post.
This whole year has been a bit trying at timesand today was no exception. While the day had started out great a little thing called the internet connection in my house stopped working. So I bundled everything in my tote and headed to the coffee shop.
Maybe now things will work in my favor.
Till next time everyone, have a great weekend. I keep checking back there will be more updates, I promise.

Research Trip in the planning!!!

So every year in November I take a trip to Illinois to see my Mom for a few days.  Well over the years she has been my biggest fan and supporter of my writing, granted she’s never read a thing I’ve written she’s always encouraging me and helping me with research.

Well this November when I go for my visit we have a lot of research to do.  Since my paranormal erotica romance is set along Interstate 80, we plan to make a few stops and take photos of the I80 and the interstate 180 interchange, its an off ramp to a very short stretch of interstate, only about 5 miles it was built 30+ years ago for a steel mill that was in the area. I think it was called JPL Steel, but don’t quote me its been a long time since I was in that area.  This interchange has alot of wooded land and it makes the perfect spot for my first crime scene where our Heroine Gwen Davis(yes I changed her name) and Hero Drake Blackburn meet.  The attraction these two feel on first meeting each other is instantaneous, which makes keeping things professional a bit of a challenge.

After our photo session there its off to a little known gun shop in Peru IL called, “Boomers and Blasters”  Yes that is the name I plan to get photos of this shop as well.  this is also where Gwen gets her “special” weapons.  Then the two of us will journey out to Walcott IA.  Now your thinking whats out there, well it is the home of the World’s Largest Truck Stop.  There will be lots for us to see there and photograph.

Plus I’m also hoping to do a bit of target shooting myself, why should my Heroine have all the fun.  I’m really hoping to be able to get my hands on “The Judge” by Tauras, that is one gun I really want to fire.  One of those could do some nasty damage to a werewolf hybred serial killer…Till next time, I’m gonna be in my writing cave for awhile plotting this book as well as a few others.

Musing while at my j.o.b. or my notebook got a workout last night.

During some down time last night at my regular “pay the bills” type job, (I’m a hairstylist by trade), I was thinking about a book I had started 25 years ago.  Yep that long ago.  I was at the time getting it ready for the “Golden Hearts Contest” put on by Romance Writers of America.  Well when I decided to go back to writing I pulled out all of my old material.  That was 4 weeks ago.  At that time when I was re-reading my stuff, I was appalled at how weak my writing was then.  So I shoved it all back into the box it had been stored in and shoved it under my side desk.  Fast forward to last night, I was sitting around at one point on a break when I started to think about that book.  How could I update it, could I change its genre of just contempory romance to whats popular today.  At first I didn’t think there was anything I could do with it, but then a germ of an idea hit.  Something from a few years ago that had been in the news that had kept folks on edge for sevreal years.

You see I  had set this book in the trucking industry and the main scene was a truck stop.  Different, yes.  The plot of the orginal was at best very weak.  But with last nights musings, I’m rewriting it as a paranormal/erotica romance/mystry and yes its set at a truck stop.

The premise is:  A serial killer is on the loose in the Interstate 80 corridore.  FBI Agent Rachel Davis, from the paranormal division, is called in to help solve the multi state killing spree.  Shilo Blackburn is a trucking company owner and shpae shifting werewolf, whose drivers seem to be targeted.  The Rachel and Shilo meet at the truck stop when Shilo is on his way  to deliver the load of one of his slain drivers.  He hasn’t been on the open road for quite some time, and the fatigue is getting to him, when he stops at the truck stop in centeral Illinois., where  the site of the latest murder is and Agent Davis is there with her team. When an eyewitness sees a strange creature the night of one of the murders, the hero and heroine meet to question said witness, who suddenly ends up dead before they can talk with him.  Miles of open road lay ahead of them as they chase and track down the werewolf morphing killer.

So as I continue work on my current project I will begin research on this project, it may be sometime before I get content of this store posted but stay tuned.  I am looking forward to the research though, its been 20 years as well having been involved in the trucking industry so alot has changed there as well.  Technology just keeps racing along at break neck speed like a Cummins Turbo Desiel engine, it amazes me how fast things change.  Why only 20 years ago as I worked at a local resort in the hospitality department, the main building burned to the ground, at the time there was a group of folks there for a small confrence only about 50 people who were discussing cell phone towers and how in 20 years they would be all over the country if not the world.  And they were right.  The company was Cellular One.

Object placement in my works.

Oh sure that sounds rather mysterious. Well for a while I am going to keep it that way. I want to see how many of my readers can figure out what object keeps coming up in every story. After the first few it won’t be hard to figure out. Lets just say its an accessory a man wears everyday, that was a hint. Some of my readers may get this right away just from this post. Thats ok. But lets keep it a secret for awhile…Shhhhhh…
Synn

Where did the name Synn Tryst come from?

So just where did the name Synn Tryst come from?   Well being a writer I tend to play around with words and phrases alot.   Synn Tryst came from a word play one day when I was on Pinterst.  What I do is basically start  changing the beginning letters of a word and go through the alphabet seeing what letters work and what ones don’t.  It can be quite a fun game.  So sinterest was one of those words, with a bit of letter modification I came up with Synn Tryst.  Plus I came up with a meaning for Synn Tryst as well.

When you think of Synn Tryst, what comes to mind for a meaning.  Lets break it down, Synn or (sin), and tryst is a secret meeting between lovers, so the meaning of Synn Tryst would be a secret, sinful meeting between lovers.  So in the world of erotica romance this is a name that is perfect for a writer, or at least this writer.     That is how my alter ego came to be.   Will you become one of my Synn Tryst books lovers, I hope so, see you between the pages.

Happy Reading everyone, Synn Tryst
